We would like to provide the public with detailed information on amendments adopted on April 17, 2025, defining the list of countries, visas and/or residence permits of which, allow foreigners to enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for a specific period of time and conditions.
Due to the fact that various media outlets and social networks are deliberately spreading information through incorrect interpretation alleging that the aforementioned amendment simplifies entry to the Georgian border for citizens of a number of countries.
We would like to clarify that the amendments made on April 17, 2025 to the Resolution of the Government of Georgia adopted on June 5, 2015 “On Approval of the List of Countries, the Visas and/or Residence Permits of which Allow Aliens to Enter Georgia without a Visa for the Appropriate Period and Conditions” serve to tighten the right of citizens of certain countries to enter Georgia without a visa and serve to combat illegal migration.
According to the context of the resolution before the amendments, citizens of the listed countries had the right to enter Georgia even before the amendments were made, in case if they held a visa or a residence permit from the Persian Gulf countries, although the validity period of the visa was not defined, therefore, the requirements for the mentioned countries have been tightened.
A visa and/or residence permit from the Persian Gulf countries will no longer give them the right to enter and stay in Georgia without a visa, if the validity period of the multiple-entry visa and/or residence permit issued by Gulf Countries has at least 1-year validity period on the day of their entry (border crossing) to Georgia, which must be confirmed by a travel document and/or other relevant document.
In particular, the restriction applies to citizens of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Ghana, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the State of Eritrea, the Republic of Yemen, the Republic of Cameroon, the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Sudan, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda who hold a visa and residency from one of the Gulf countries.
