The firemen and rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are intensively conducting localization works of fire that broke out in the forest near Akhaldaba settlement in the Borjomi valley. 4 helicopters of the border police were involved in fire-activities since morning.
Localization works by firefighters was ongoing throughout the night as well. Due to the difficult terrain, it is not possible to bring the fire-rescue equipment to the main fire sources.
150 firefighters from Tbilisi, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli fire-rescue departments and Borjom-Kharagauli National Park rangers of the protected areas agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture are involved in the process of extinguishing the fire. In case of necessity, rangers from other territorial administrations will be involved in the process with appropriate firefighting equipment.
A special field headquarters was organized by the Emergency Situations Management Service, from where forest fire extinguishing works are being coordinated. Fire monitoring is carried out by means of drones.
