On June 5, 2017 based on the report, Gldani-Nadzaladevi police division launched investigation regarding the armed assault committed against I.Q. – article 179 of the Criminal Code.
Investigation established that late night of June 5, 2017 approximately at 03:40 citizen I.Q. was nearby to the Gldani cemetery, when he was approached by the citizen D.G. (DoB 1980) who attempted to appropriate cash and jewelry by demonstrating the firearm.
Herewith we would like to note that citizen I.Q. left the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2015. The mentioned person was employed at Special Tasks Department and has undergone proper physical training.
I.Q. offered resistance to the offender and attempted to disarm him as a result of which both of them received multiple body injuries.
Eventually I.Q. managed to disarm D.G. and reported to the police.
Police arrived at the site immediately. The victim and his accompanying persons noted that D.G. attempted to assault them with firearm with threats of liquidation.
Law enforcers conducted the personal search of D.G. and took him under arrest.
D.G. refused to give testimony to the police. He was eventually taken to the temporary detention isolator. Before displacing him in one of the cells D.G. was examined by the doctor who gave recommendation to place transfer him to the hospital for further examination.
At the hospital D.G. underwent appropriate medical examination according to the results of which he was not in need to be admitted to the hospital and thus, he was transferred to the temporary detention isolator based on the relevant medical conclusion.
In the moment of placing D.G. in isolator he repeatedly underwent medical examination during which he stated to the doctor that he sustained body injuries before detention and had no complaints against policemen. The mentioned document was signed by the detainee himself.
D.G. was placed in detention cell in presence of the representative from the Public Defender’s Office.
On June 6, 2017 D.G. was accused for the armed assault, crime envisaged by the article 179, I part of the criminal Code. He was left in imprisonment by the decision judge and transferred to Gldani prison.
D.G. was several times convicted in past under the articles 236, 179, 181, 184, 224, 353, 343, 19-144, 144 and 19-109 of the criminal Code. At this moment the court is also discussing the case against D.G. under the article 260 of the Criminal Code.
D.G. had no complaints against policemen at temporary detention isolator which he confirmed by his signature on the relevant document.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of armed assault-article 179 of the Criminal Code. Relevant expertises are scheduled to be held regarding the mentioned criminal case.
