Taking into consideration high interest of the society, Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to state that case of explosion of the vehicle owned by Givi Targamadze, has been solved as a result of complex operative and investigative activities conducted by special investigative group which was comprised of the officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Prosecutor’s office and State Security Agency. Person linked to the mentioned criminal case has been identified.
As it is known to the public, immediate investigative activities have been conducted by the group of investigators in the shortest time. Namely, forensics conducted detailed examination of the place of crime; dozens of witnesses were interrogated; records of CCTV cameras have been obtained by the law enforcers; all necessary investigative activities have been conducted or planned to be held.
The mentioned investigative activities enabled law enforcers to identify the person involved in the blast. Within the frames of investigation other important information was also obtained, which can’t be disclosed to the public at the moment.
In order to obtain additional evidences, search activities are held in the suspect’s apartment and other houses owned by persons connected to him. As a result of searching law enforcers seized various types of firearms, hand grenade and presumably explosive materials, as well as materials needed for production of explosives, magazines, cartridges and masks.
As for the person identified by law enforcers, his whereabouts are not known for the moment. At the stage operative-investigative activities are being held in order to detain him.
Investigation is in progress under the article 19-109 of the Criminal Code.
