As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Investigation Department of Didube-Chughureti Police Main Division, under Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs A.K., born in 1991, was arrested for fraudulently embezzling a large amount of money.
The committed crime envisions up to 9 years in prison.
As a result of large-scale investigative actions conducted in the case, it was established that the victim couple wanted to have a child through surrogacy, for which they contacted A.K., an acquaintance of theirs.
Some time after the arrangement, the defendant took advantage of their trust, told them that he had found two surrogate mothers, convinced them that female newborns would be born, who would have health problems, and additionally extorted a large amount of money, allegedly for their treatment. The total damage amounted to 310 thousand GEL and 15 thousand USD.
Law enforcement officers, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out in the case, arrested A.K.
The investigation is underway under Article 180, Part 3, Subparagraph “b” of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
