The employees of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based on a judge's ruling, arrested two persons: L.A. (DoB 1986) and Kh.A. (DoB 1977) for human trafficking of a person with disabilities.
The committed crime envisions up to 15 years of imprisonment.
An intensive investigation, including evidence obtained as a result of covert investigative actions carried out on the basis of a judge's ruling, revealed that in order to obtain financial profit, the defendants systematically, using physical and psychological violence, forced a disabled person born in 1986 in Tbilisi, to have sexual intercourse with various people.
The investigation also revealed that the defendants appropriated the entire amount obtained by prostitution. If the amount earned by the victim turned out to insufficient, detainees would use physical and psychological violence and threats against the victim.
As a result of the investigative actions carried out by law enforcement officers, both persons were arrested in Tbilisi.
The investigation is underway under Article 143 II and III parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which refers to human trafficking committed against a person in a helpless situation.
