Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Revenue service of the Ministry of Finances as a result of jointly held operative-investigative activities have exposed the fact of international drug trafficking. In connection with the mentioned fact two persons were detained.
During the searching activities of the truck law enforcers seized 2 tons and 790 kilograms of heroin in liquid condition. It is notable that detection of such amount of heroin is unprecedented fact.
Investigation established that truck crossed Georgian state border from Azerbaijan and headed towards Georgian-Turkish state border. Law enforcers seized 93, 30kg containers full of heroin in liquid condition. According to preliminary results of forensic service the seized drug contains 80% of pure heroin worth of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal transit of drugs and Illegal Import to or Export from, or International Transit Shipment Across Georgia, of Narcotics, Analogy or Precursor Thereof.
