As a result of recently held operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Imereti Police Departments have arrested 22 people for drug crimes, including 12 drug dealers.
The detainees are the citizens of Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, Jordan and Turkey.
The following persons have been detained for the facts of illegal selling, attempted selling and preparation of selling of large and especially large quantities of drugs as well as narcotic drug "marijuana": V.K. born in 1979, G.T. born in 1997, A.Gh. born in 2001, D.S. born in 1994 and previously convicted persons: K.Ch. born in 1966, Sh.A. born in 1998 and K.Ch. born in 1998.
Also, foreign citizens: A.S. born in 1994, Z.P. born in 1982, O.S. born in 2001, M.G. born in 2000 and I.O. born in 1999
The following persons were detained for the illegal acquisition and storage of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and attempted illegal acquisition and storage: L.L., born in 1989, and previously convicted persons: A.Z., born in 1994, N.G., born in 1991, R.B., born in 1980, and A.V., born in 1985.
Also, foreign citizens: G.S., born in 1991, S.S., born in 2004, A.G., born in 1991, M.Kh., born in 1997, and O.F., born in 1999.
The committed crimes envision punishment up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The police, based on a judge's ruling, have conducted the so-called control drug purchases from individuals arrested on charges of illegal drug trafficking several times and have secretly made audio and video recordings depicting the process of purchases.
During the personal searches and search activities held in residential homes of individuals arrested on charges of drug crimes, law enforcement officers also seized a particularly large amount of various types of narcotics from locations indicated by them, including "heroin", "buprenorphine", "ecstasy", "suboxin", "methadone", "amphetamine", "mephedrone", "alpha-PVP", and "marijuana".
As a result of the investigative actions, the police have seized adhesive tapes, and electric scales, money allegedly obtained from drug sales, as evidence.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 18-260, 19-260, 261, 18-273, 19-273 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
