As a result of recent operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Adjara, Shida Kartli and Imereti Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 5 persons on drug charges.
Law enforcement officers arrested Sh.V., born in 1982, I. M., born in 1996, and foreign citizens: D. S., born in 2006, A.B., born in 1974, and S.K., born in 1995, on charges of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in a particularly large amount, sale, attempted sale, preparation of sale, and illegal cultivation of a plant containing narcotic drugs.
Based on the judge's ruling, the police carried out an undercover purchase of drugs and secretly recorded the purchase.
As a result of personal search and search activities held in defendants’ residential homes and the locations indicated by them, law enforcement officers seized various types of narcotics, including "heroin", "methadone", "marijuana" and the drug-containing plant cannabis as evidence.
Electric scales and materials necessary for packaging narcotics were also seized.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 19-260 (3), 18-260 (3), 265 and 273 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
