As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Main Division for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 3 foreign citizens on charges of drug trafficking.
Citizens of the Republic of Iran have been arrested on charges of illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and the narcotic drug "marijuana": M.N., born in 1982, with a previous conviction, and A.B., born in 1993, as well as S.G., born in 1982, - a citizen of the Republic of Turkey.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
The police, based on a judge's ruling, have conducted controlled drug purchases from individuals arrested on charges of illegal drug trafficking several times and secretly recorded the process.
Law enforcement officers seized the narcotics "MDMA" and "marijuana" as a result of detainees’ personal searches and search activities held in their residential homes. Policemen also seized money allegedly obtained from drug sales as evidence.
The investigation is underway under Articles 260 and 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
