Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched social campaign – “No to Violence” aimed against domestic violence. In order to involve society more actively in the mentioned campaign Ministry has announced contest for the best journalistic work.
Journalists willing to participate in the contest will have to post their works till December 15 on Ministry’s official page in the social network. Winners will be revealed in the following nominations: best TV story, best radio story, best TV show, best radio show and best article.
Journalistic works will be evaluated by special jury which is comprised of: Head of Public Relations Department Nino Giorgobiani, head of Project Management Division of International Relations Division Maka Peradze, head of Patrol Police Faculty of Professional Training Division Nodar Saakashvili, “National Network for the Protection from Violence” non-governmental organization- Nato Shavlakadze, representative of UN Women Gvantsa Asatiani, psychologist Tea Gogotishvili, write Dato Turashvili, TV presenter Irakli Chikhladze. Ministry of Internal Affairs also announced contest for the civilians for revealing author of the best slogan, logo and photo. Winners will be revealed according to the number of “likes” after posting contest materials on the page of the official facebook page of the Ministry. Winners will be awarded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UN Women organization with certificates and prizes.
Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with other state agencies launched the social campaign against domestic violence –“No to Violence” with the support of the US Embassy on November 25. Aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among society on domestic violence and to emphasize the importance of citizens’ involvement in overcoming the mentioned problem. Within the frames of the campaign activities, public will be informed that victims of domestic violence are protected by the law and offenders are punished by the Georgian legislation.
