Today Minister of Internal Affairs Aleqsandre Chikaidze has listened to summarizing report on activities held in 2013 by the Emergency Management Department. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri, Director of the Department Zviad Katsashvili and other officials.
In order to improve the level of professionalism of the department employees, number of study visits were held abroad. Rescuers had an opportunity to attend trainings held by the leading international organizations in order to boost their professional skills for effective operation during emergencies.
During 2013 received and made response on 743 emergency calls which were registered at Emergency Management Department. As a result of successful rescue operations held by the department employees 103 people were rescued in the mentioned period.
Director of the department provided Minister of Internal Affairs with detailed information on scheduled and already implemented novelties as well as activities held by the rescuers of the department. Aleksandre Tchikaidze also got familiarized with the memorandums concluded during the recent year with number of countries, international organizations and various some of the Ministries of the country.
In 2013 expert-consolation board was founded under the initiative of the department. The work schedule of the board as well as board members was also decided.
Department employees elaborated special routes for transportation of the dangerous cargoes with the aim of improving GIS electric map technologies.
At the meeting Minister also received detailed information on other activities held by the Emergency Management Department countrywide.
