Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze awarded journalists and citizens who won contests, held within the frames of social campaign against domestic violence. Winners were handed certificates of gratitude and notebooks by the Minister of Internal Affairs and “UN Woman” organization.
Winners among journalists were revealed in the following nominations: best TV story nomination was won by Salome Kokiashvili-journalist of Public broadcaster; best article nomination was won by Tamuna Lepsveridze, best radio story was won by Khatuna Gagnidze- journalist of “Palitra Radio”.
Special prize for supporting social campaign against domestic violence was handed to TV presenter of “Reaction" talk show-Inga Grigolia, TV presenter of “First Studio” talk show Eka Mishveladze and TV presenter of “Paradise Apples” Nino Zautashvili. Jury also chose two groups from Journalism faculty of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University for making videos-“Do Not Disguise Violence” and “Solidarity Will Protect Us”.
Best journalists were revealed by the jury according to their materials. Materials were evaluated by members of special jury group, namely: head of MIA Public Relations Department Nino Giorgobiani, head of Project Management Division of International Relations Division Maka Peradze, head of Patrol Police Faculty of Professional Training Division Nodar Saakashvili, representative of “National Network for the Protection from Violence” non-governmental organization Gvantsa Asatiani, psychologist Tea gogotishvili, writer Dato Turashvili and TV presenter Irakli Chikhladze.
Minister also awarded citizens who participated in the contest. Winners were revealed according to the number of votes on Facebook page. Aleko Abalaki won the contest for best photo, Ana Matcharashvili – for best design and author of the best slogan became Ana Kvavadze. Jury sympathy prize was handed to Tamar Tvildiani- author of the slogan and Tamar Makhatadze-author of the photo. Ministry of Internal Affairs, along with other state agencies launched the social campaign against domestic violence –“No to Violence” with the support of the US Embassy on November 25.
