The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Levan Izoria and US Ambassador Richard Norland have solemnly opened course for instructors of criminal investigation at MIA Academy. Course that will last for six weeks, was initiated and organized by US Department of State’s International Bureau of Narcotics and Law-enforcement (INL). The opening ceremony of the course was attended by the rector of MIA Academy Nukri Gelashvili, head of International Bureau of Narcotics and Law-enforcement of the US Embassy Tracy Nuvel, Advisor in police matters Michael Willson and other officials. The mentioned course, which is being implemented for the first time in Georgia, is aimed for investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Finances, Ministry of Corrections and for employees of the Prosecutors office. The course is being led by highly profiled US specialists. After the completion of the course Georgian instructors will be able to hold the same courses for other investigators. The program is comprised of 240-hour course covering investigation and methodology subjects, based on best practice of the international standards. The course is aimed at training instructors according to the basic, standard program on criminal investigation, adapted to the Georgian legislation and reality.
