Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze is in the Dariali gorge, namely in the disaster zone and is heading crises management staff in accordance with the order of the prime Minister.
Under the order of the Minister of Internal Affairs several watch towers were established in the Dariali Gorge which are located on highest points of the gorge. From the highest point of the gorge border guards are monitoring the zone of disaster and will inform on any danger to the patrol police officers, and MIA rescuers stationed in the watch towers by means of radio connection in order to withdraw heavy machinery and evacuate personnel from the place of disaster.
MIA Emergency Management Department has received 18 tons of diesel from the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia in the sector of the gorge which is currently blocked by the landslide disabling relevant Georgiana agencies to supply rescuers with fuel. On the side of Larsi border checkpoint search and rescue operation is underway without any obstacles as well as clean up activities.
At this moment one of the trucks caught in the landslide has been recovered from the debris of mud.
Representatives of various MIA services are conducting coordinated search-rescue and cleanup activities with heavy machinery in round-the-clock regime.
