The Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, along with the Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and members of the Government, attended the civil funeral of 8 persons transferred from the territory of occupied Abkhazia.
At Trinity Cathedral, the Head of the Government and the Ministers paid tribute to the memory of the deceased and expressed their condolences to the family members.
Within the framework of the bilateral Georgian-Abkhazian coordination mechanism and through the joint efforts of the Office of the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality of the Government of Georgia and the International Committee of the Red Cross the bodies of 8 persons (5 service members and 3 civilians) missing as a result of the armed conflict of the 1990s were identified and transported.
