On February 11, 2014 Council for State Security and Crisis Management, established under the Georgian Prime Minister, held the first meeting of the Interagency Council on Georgian Integrated Border Management Strategy. The Council was established by the government regulation №49 of January 14, 2014 and was entrusted by the same regulation to develop the relevant strategy and introduce it to the government for approval before March 1, 2014. The Council consists of the representatives of agencies involved in state border management and is headed by the assistant to the Prime Minister of Georgia, secretary of Council for State Security and Crisis Management. The parties discussed the draft of strategy and set main priorities. The next meeting will be held by the end of February, when the final draft will be approved. Today’s meeting was attended by the representatives from United Nations Development Program, EU Delegation to Georgia, International Migration Organization and US Embassy.
