Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze participated in international conference “Comprehensive Approach For Crime Prevention” organized by the Ministry of Justice.
Conference was opened by the Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze. Participants of conference were addressed by Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee of the Parliament - Rati Ionatamishvili, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs – Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia – Gela Geladze, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Georgia on Human Rights – Niko Tatulashvili, Head of National Agency For Crime Prevention, Execution of Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation – Lado Kheladze.
During his speech, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze highlighted the importance and necessity of crime prevention. Deputy Minister noted that working on crime prevention, especially in relation to minors, is a priority for Ministry of Internal Affairs. Agency constantly implements different activities and makes relevant steps to raise public awareness as well as enhances qualification of law enforcement officers.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized effectiveness of community-oriented police activities and spoke about the Institute of community officers operating in Ministry in this direction. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze provided conference participants with information about the specifics of work of Human Rights Protection Department which continues its activities with a new mandate since May 1 of 2024 and its priorities being planning/implementation of measures aimed at crime prevention, monitoring of the quality of proceedings related to minors and ensuring proper implementation of coordination and referral in cases of violence against children.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze also spoke about information campaigns of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out for the purpose of raising public awareness and crime prevention.
