The Information-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presents the statistical data on the visitors having crossed the state border of Georgia during the last month, in particular: The number of visitors in December, 2015 amounted to 465 962 – more by 7% than the index of the same period in 2014. According to the new method of a conditional division, the correlation of specific number is the following:
A) Tourist - 155 048 visits (of general number increased by 33,3%, in comparison with the same index of the last year, 6,2%);
B) Transit –89 141 visits (general number, increased by 19,1% in comparison with the same index of the last year 2,2%);
C) Other - 221 773 visits (general number, increase by 47,6% in comparison by the same index of the last year- 9,6%);
As for January-December period the number of visits to the country amounted to 5 897 685 – more by 7% than the index of the same period in 2014.
The most of the visits in December 2015 was paid again from Turkey (+1,8%), Azerbaijan (+4,6%), Armenia (+3,8), Russia (+13,3%) and Ukraine (+10,3%). The same positive tendency is also preserved in connection with EU countries: in terms of the increasing number of arrivals to Georgia in January-December period the following countries traditionally took the leading position: Italy, Lithuania, Latvia and Germany (relatively 15%, 13%, 13%, and 10%),), Middle Asia countries –Kazakhstan (29%). Number of arrivals to Georgia from Eastern European countries is the following: Belarus (51%) Asian countries – United Arab Emirates increase by 675% and Saudi Arabia (80% increase), Near East-Israel 40% increase from USA is also worth noting (10%).
