With the financial support of the European Union, International Organization for Migration (IOM) handed over modern special equipment - passport readers - to the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The donation ceremony was held at Tbilisi International Airport. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, the Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration in Georgia - Sanja Celebic Lukovac and the representative of the EU Delegation - Evija Kotan. At the meeting, the parties discussed the progress achieved within the framework of the existing cooperation and outlined the prospects for future cooperation.
The newest technical equipment donated to the Patrol Police Department will be placed at the border crossing points across Georgia. The equipment will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of border control and improving the procedure for document verification, which will significantly strengthen the capabilities of the Patrol Police Department in the direction of combating illegal migration.
The handover of equipment was carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with the financial support of the European Union within the framework of the projects - "European Union for Security, Accountability and Fight Against Crime in Georgia (SAFE) - Integrated Border Management (SAFE IBM)" and "Border and Migration Management Action for Georgia (BMMAG)".
