42-year-old Giorgi Lelashvili, a fire-rescuer of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, civil security lieutenant, who died few days ago while performing official duty, was escorted to the final path from St. George's Cathedral accompanied by an honor guard.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor, Kakha Kaladze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ioseb Chelidze and Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mgebrishvili paid their respects to the deceased firefighter-rescuer.
The funeral ceremony was also attended by other leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, employees, firefighters and representatives of Emergency Situations Management Service.
On December 21 of the current year, Giorgi Lelashvili was performing fire liquidation works in a building located on Ilia Chavchavadze avenue in Tbilisi, when the wall collapsed, killing the firefighter. He worked as a firefighter for 12 years and participated in many important events.
The honor guard paid tribute to the memory of the deceased with three-volley salute and presented the state flag of Georgia to his family members.
