The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Mgebrishvili awarded employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - rescuers, border guards, patrol inspectors and operators of emergency service "112" for excellently performing their official duties, bravery and saving citizens’ lives.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs opened the event with a welcome speech.
"These people are not only heroes of the day. They are heroes of our time and our country, and I often refer to it. Their heroism is proved by their daily activities when they are risking their own lives and health and are ready to sacrifice themselves for saving others. It's a great honor and responsibility for me to be their head. However, I feel even more responsibility for their children, spouses, and families, because these people are confronting the worst challenges of the world, including natural disasters, flood, fire and etc.- they have to face the most dangerous situations, they fight and gain victory at the end.
Policeman, firefighter, border guard - representatives of these profession are backing each other and all together they are backing up with our state, its security and thus, each of us. Their respect is the matter of all citizens of Georgia "- stated Giorgi Mgebrishvili.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili awarded four pilots of Border Police - Police Major Besik Gabiani, Police Captain Shalva Shalibashvili, Senior Lieutenant Besik Bakuridze and Police Major Dimitri Kaadze with order of honor for performing rescue operation on high professional level.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili also awarded 17 employees of Ministry of Internal Affairs with medals of "bravery" and handed out 2 certificates of appreciation.
The documentary video depicting rescue activities was presented at the award ceremony.
The event was attended by family members of the MIA employees and citizens rescued by them.
