On December 19, 2013 a meeting of Police Working Group in framework of Criminal Justice Reform in Georgia was held. The representatives of international organizations as well as local nongovernmental organizations involved in police reform process were invited for participation.
The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Leval Izoria. The legislative amendments prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs with regard to the combating terrorism and drug related crimes as well as the activities implemented in different spheres (organized crime, cybercrime, illegal migration) were discussed during the meeting.
Criminal Justice Reform is implemented in Georgia with the financial support of the EU since 2008. All law enforcement structures are involved in its implementation along with the Public Defenders’ office and international and nongovernmental organizations. The goal of Police Working Group is to review the reform processes in Police and elaborate recommendations.
