The officers of Isani-Samgori Police Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained M.D. (DoB 1978), for wounding which took place in Varketili as a result of operative-investigative activities.
The investigation established that detainee, who was under the influence of alcohol, wounded his friend K.M. (DoB DoB 1978) with a firearm in the leg area and fled from the crime scene.
The wounded man was transferred to a medical facility where he underwent appropriate medical treatment. His life is not in danger. Law enforcers arrested M.D. several hours after the incident, he was arrested as a result of immediate police activities.
Police seized the weapon of the crime - a smooth-bore shotgun as evidence.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of inflicting minor damage to health on purpose and illegal purchase-keeping-carrying of a firearm, Articles 118 and 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
