Officers of Didube-Chughureti, (Detectives and Investigation Division) of Tbilisi Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Divisions of Isani-Samgori, Vake-Saburtalo the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, have arrested 5 people on drug-related charges as a result of operational measures and investigative actions carried out at different times.
The following individuals are detained on charges of illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in a especially large amount, attempted sale and preparation of sale, as well as purchase and storage, attempted sale and preparation of sale of marijuana, illegal cultivation of a plant containing narcotic drugs in especially large quantities: G.D., born in 2007, citizen of Ukraine M.P., born in 1995, citizens of the Russian Federation S.D., born in 1989, and A.S., born in 1995, and M.Kh., born in 1996, who has been previously convicted and is currently under probation.
The committed crime envisions up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Based on the Court decision, the police carried out an undercover purchase of narcotic drugs and secretly recorded the aforementioned process.
As a result of the personal search of the detainees’ and residential homes, as well as during the investigative experiment, law enforcement officers seized the narcotics "Methadone", "Heroin", "Herbal Cannabis" and "Marijuana" placed for sale as evidence from the locations indicated by them.
As a result of the investigative actions, the police also seized materials necessary for packaging narcotics, an electric scale, adhesive tapes and polyethylene bags.
The investigation is in progress under Articles 260, 265, 18-260 (3), 19-260 (3) and 273 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
