Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 5 people in Tbilisi and Imereti region for organizing, leading, participating in group violence and publicly calling for violent actions.
The following persons were arrested: O.C. (DoB 1996) G.M. (DoB 1990), J.A. (DoB 1975), A.Ch. (DoB 1996) and a citizen of foreign country R.S. (DoB 1997).
The committed crimes envision up to 9 years of imprisonment.
As a result of the complex investigative actions, it was established that the defendants disobeyed and resisted the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during the ongoing protests on Rustaveli Avenue, and actively participated in group violence as well. They also threw various objects at police officers.
During the personal search and search activities held in residential houses, the law enforcement officers seized mobile phones, computer equipment, military clothing, and explosives as evidence.
Herewith, as part of the ongoing investigation, due to urgent necessity, a search was conducted in the residential apartment of 4 persons in Tbilisi, from which law enforcement officers seized firearms, a large amount of money, memory cards and computer equipment.
The investigation is being conducted under the Article 225, I and II parts and Article 239, part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
In the Ministry of Internal Affairs, throughout current protests, 13 persons have been arrested under Articles 225 and 239 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies organizing, leading or participating in group violence and publicly calling for violent actions. Herewith, 1 person is arrested on charges of preparing an explosion.
Within the frames of the current protest, the investigation is being conducted under Articles 187 and 353 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, within the frames of which 9 persons have been arrested at the moment.
