The employees of Ajara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 5 people on the basis of the Court decision for group violence committed in Batumi.
The detainees are as follows: M.J. (DoB 1978), G.M. (DoB 2004), D.G. (DoB 2003), G.D. (DoB 2002) and A.K. (DoB 2004).
The committed crime envisions up to 2 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that on December 3 of the current year, within the framework of the protest held in Batumi, a group of participants of the rally entered Batumi University of Arts in order to hang a banner near the rector's office, however the lecturer of the same university, T.C. did not allow protesters to hand the poster, owning to which, the dean of the same university - M.J. (DoB 1978), verbally insulted T.C.
The investigation also established that M.J. (DoB 1978) and his students physically attacked T.C.'s wife - I.D. (DoB 1975) and her friend - I.N. (DoB 1977) in the building of the university.
The police arrested the defendants based on the judge's ruling.
The investigation is being conducted under the Article 126 I (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
