As a result of operative-investigative activities carried out by the Tbilisi Police Department, 4 more people were detained and 1 person indicted for unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities under the threats of violence, persecution under violence or threat of violence and group violence.
The investigation established that on July 5 of the current year, during the rally against "Tbilisi Pride" on Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi, the accused, RK. (DoB1991), obstructed the professional activities of “Formula TV” journalist and physically and verbally abused him.
The accused- G.N. (DoB1985), verbally and physically assaulted the cameraman of “Imedi” TV company on the same day and obstructed him in the process of fulfilling his professional duties.
The accused – T.B. (DoB1985), verbally and physically abused a photo correspondent of “Formula TV” during the manifestation and prevented him from performing his professional activities.
The accused – G.K. (DoB 1984), verbally and physically assaulted “Radio Tavisufleba” journalist in district Vake, near the “Round Garden”.
Another person, Ts.Ch. was indicted for assaulting the cameraman of “Public Broadcaster”, who was earlier arrested on July 8, in the office of the "Shame" movement, for physical and verbal abuse of “TV Pirveli” journalist and cameraman on duty.
The investigation is in progress under Articles 154, Part II, 156, Part II, sub-paragraph "A" and Article 225, Part II, envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The Investigative-operative activities are underway to identify and arrest others involved in the crime.
