Last month, the employees of Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 37 citizens of different countries from Georgia based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons". Some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while some were deported as a result of measures taken by the employees of Migration Department.
Based on the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons" citizens of Moldova, Egypt, Armenia, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, India, Bangladesh and Nigeria - 37 citizens in total were deported from Georgia.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is a responsible body for the fight against illegal migration within the country. One of its competences is the identification of citizens of foreign countries who are residing in Georgia without a legal basis and their deportation from the country.
