Last month, the employees of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs deported 26 citizens of different countries from the country based on the “Law of Georgia On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons". Some of the citizens of foreign countries left Georgia voluntarily, while others were deported from the country as a result of measures taken by the Migration Department.
On the basis of the “Law of Georgia On Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", the citizens of - the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Iraq, the Russian Federation, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Republic of India and others were deported from the country, 26 individuals in total.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. One of its main competences envisions the identification of foreign citizens in Georgia without a legal basis and their deportation from the country.
