Another meeting of the Coordination Headquarters was held in Guria region. The meeting was attended by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs -Vakhtang Gomelauri, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and various agencies.
At the headquarters meeting, the work carried out throughout the day to eliminate problems caused by heavy snowfall in Guria region was reviewed and further measures were defined.
The meeting focused on the main needs of the local population, problems caused by the heavy snowfall, and ways to solve them in a timely and more effective manner.
It was noted that 80% of the roads in Ozurgeti municipality have been cleared of snow. As for the provision of utility services, as a result of intensive work, electricity supply was restored to an additional 5,000 subscribers in the region. Meanwhile, natural gas was supplied to an additional 800 subscribers.
Various units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including firefighters, together with the defense forces and representatives of relevant agencies, continue intensive work in connection with heavy snowfall in western Georgia.
6 local headquarters of the Emergency Situations Management Service have been set up in Guria region, where reports related to problems caused by heavy snowfall are received and appropriate responses are made.
Firefighters, together with police forces and representatives of other agencies, provided assistance to a number of citizens in difficult meteorological conditions.
