Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with 12 police attaches sent by MIA in foreign countries.
Attaches acquainted Minister with the fulfilled activities and received further instructions. At the meeting Minister pointed out the importance of the role of police attaches in developing effective police cooperation. As it was stressed by Giotgi Mgebrishvili, the role of police attaches deployed in EU states has become much more important.
Minister also reviewed the importance of the agreement concluded with EUROPOL on operative cooperation.
“In the nearest future, Georgian Parliament will ratify the agreement and you will be joined by another Liaison Officer deployed in EUROPOL, which will be sent within a few months. We will have the opportunity to cooperate with EUROPOL and European law enforcement agencies of EU member states through EUROPOL, both in operational and in the non-operational direction, exchange operative and police information through secure channel, to take part in the joint investigative groups organized within the framework of the EUROPOL" ,
At the end of the meeting Giorgi Mgebrishvili thanked police attaches for their service and wished them success.
