During the working visit to Germany Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia met Mr. Boris Pistorius, the Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony Federal Land in the city of Hannover.
At the meeting the German side stressed the positive assessment of the relationship between the Federal Land of Lower Saxony and the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of Georgia, including the mutual cooperation in fight against organized crime, illegal migration and readmission.
Mr. Boris Pastorius emphasized the operative and successful cooperation between German and Georgian law enforcers. "Our relations are exemplary; there are only few countries we keep such fruitful cooperation with. The exchange of information and all the necessary procedures are carried out in the possible shortest time. Although the number of unlawful actions committed by Georgians in our land is relatively small in comparison to those committed by foreign citizens, but it is still a problem and we should fight together. The attitude of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, his persistence and determination to deepen cooperation greatly impressed us. This clearly proves that we have made a great step to success. We will make every effort to further develop our bilateral relations ", - the Minister of Interior of Lower Saxony Federal Land declared.
According to Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, a Georgian-German readmission practice, as well as the two countries’ clear position to the so-called “Asylum Seekers” is an important message for those who arrive in Germany for dishonest purposes. "The crimes committed by the citizens of Georgia in Germany are not only your problem, they are ours as well. This is a challenge that irreparably damages the reputation and image of our country. We need to coordinate real information and take active steps. To achieve the certain results, it is necessary to deepen the international police cooperation via Interpol, Europol, police attaches, multilateral or bilateral relations and personal contacts "- said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
The parties discussed the prospects of development of cooperation and the specific action plans.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili invited Mr. Boris Pistorious to Georgia as a reciprocal visit.
