Memorandum of cooperation was signed by MIA Special Tasks Department and Carabinieri service of Italia.
Minister of Internal Affairs is paying his first official visit to Italy. In Rome Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with head of Carabinieri Corps, General- Lieutenant Tullio Del Sette.
Sides discussed topical issues in the cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Italian law enforcement agencies. Minister of Internal Affairs introduced new police attache of Georgia to the head of the Carabinieri Corps.
“Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia closely cooperates with law enforcement bodies of Italy which is facilitated by “Agreement on the Fight against Crime concluded between Georgian Government and the Republic of Italy”-stated Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili while meeting with Tullio Del Sette- “From now on this cooperation will be even more fruitful. Georgian police attache will be sent to Rome, we are moving on the next level of the mutual cooperation”.
Italy is the 13th country where Georgian police attache will be sent by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. As it was stated by Giorgi Mgebrishvili at the meeting, appointing of the police attaches in the partner states has garnered important results with regards to the fight against the crime.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili acquainted the head of Carabinieri Corps with the ongoing and implemented projects at the agency. He also reviewed the creation of Joint Operations Center under the standards of European police forces and reforming of Special tasks Department. According to the Minister, Special Tasks Department plans to become member of the Gendarmerie and militarized police forces of Europe and Mediterranean states and also aims to be actively involved in various international projects and trainings, therefore sharing carabinieri experience is of particular experience.
At the meeting Minister outlined the importance of creating the working group, within the frames of which sides will be able to share experience and introduce their work specifics.
General- Lieutenant Tullio Del Sette has expressed readiness to further enhance cooperation with Georgia. Sides agreed to sign the memorandum of understanding in the future between MIA Special tasks Department and Carabinieri Corps of Italy.
At the end of the meeting special presentation was held for the delegation from Georgia, depicting Carabinieri Corps activities.
