The officers of the unit against the fight with the drug trafficking under the division of the fight against the organized crime of the Central Criminal Police Department along with Customs Department of the Ministry of Finance, as a result of jointly held complex activities have exposed new route of the drug trafficking. Based on the above mentioned, four persons were detained for the illegal import of drugs on the territory of Georgia and illegal keeping of narcotics in especially large quantities. In particular the following persons were taken under arrest: two citizens of Brazilian Federation- De Silva Campos Zh. (DoB 1979) and Luis Carlos M. (DoB 1981), citizen of Ecuador -Lizardo P. (DoB 1980) and citizen of South African Republic Lewis G. (DoB 1957).
Law enforcers detained the above mentioned persons at Tbilisi International Airport in the attempt to smuggle drugs in large quantities on the territory of Georgia. Police seized 196 packages of drug from De Silva Campos Zh. And Lizardo P. which according to expertise appeared to be 2kg and 228,84gr. of cocaine drug.
It is notable that the officers of the unit against the fight with the drug trafficking under the division of the fight against the organized crime of the Central Criminal Police Department and Customs Department of the Ministry of Finance, as a result of jointly held complex activities detained five foreign citizens who illegally imported more than 12 kg of cocaine on the territory of Georgia for the purpose of the drug trafficking in recent month.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal import of drugs on the territory of Georgia and illegal keeping of drugs in especially large quantities, article 260 VI, sub-paragraph “A” and article 262, IV part, sub-paragraph “A” envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
