Informational-analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs publishes summarizing results of statistic data on foreign visitors entering Georgia.
In December of 2013 391 724 visitors crossed Georgian State border. To compare recent results with the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 5%. As for the January-December period, 5 365 356 visitors crossed Georgian state border in total. In comparison with the results of the 2012, the number of visitors increased by 21,1% in January-December period of 2013.
In accordance with recently activated gradation scale the results are as follows:
A) Tourist - 2 080 808 visits (total number has reached 39%. To compare recent results with the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 16, 3 %)
B) Transit - 1 167 570 visits (total number has reached 22%. To compare recent results with the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 54%,6);
C) Other - 2 116 978 visits (total number has reached 39%, To compare recent results with the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 12,4%).
In December of 2013 the most number of visitors has crossed Georgian state border from Turkey (- 25,8%) Azerbaijan (+16,3%) Armenia (+26,8%) Russian Federation (40,6%) Ukraine (+69,7%) and Iran (-33,8%). Similar positive tendency is preserved in connection with countries of European Union, where the number of tourists from Poland, Czech Republic and Austria, France, Germany and Italy has substantially increased, reaching 80%, 32%, 22%, 19%, 17% and15% respectively. Number of tourists from middle Asia, namely from Kazakhstan has increased by 40%, while the number of tourists from Israel has reached29%. Number of tourists from Eastern Europe, namely from Belarus, has also increased by 62%.
the increasing number of Georgian citizens crossing the state border is also worth mentioning. In 12 months period the number of Georgian citizens who entered Georgian state border has reached 17,1% and those who left country is has reached 17,8%.
