OSCE project `Transitional Institutional Support Program` launched in 2008 was finished in 2009. The purpose of the project was support of ongoing police reforms and contained three areas of institutional cooperation:
• strengthening institutional capacity of Border Police;
• promoting effective coordination and cooperation among different agencies in charge of border protection and security area;
• upholding trans-border cooperation among the border agencies of the neighboring countries.
137 border police officers were trained within the project. The project envisioned joint trainings for representatives of agencies responsible for protection of Georgia's state border as well as for those of the neighboring countries.
