With the financial support of the European Union, the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) handed over modern cybercrime high-technological software and hardware equipment to the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Cybercrime hardware and software equipment was provided within the framework of the – „Support to Advancing Technical Capacities for Ensuring Human Security“ – project, implemented by UNOPS. The project is part of the broader EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight Against Crime in Georgia (SAFE) initiative.
Teimuraz Kupatadze, Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Catalin Gherman, Deputy Head of Cooperation of the EU Delegation to Georgia and UNOPS Georgia Country Manager attended the handover ceremony.
Donated cybercrime hardware and software equipment will enable the swift identification, data collection and analysis of cybercrime incidents. This modern equipment will significantly enhance investigation capabilities, leading to improved crime detection and prevention.
The European Union remains actively committed to supporting the fight against organized crime in Georgia. The project is implemented in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia since 2020 and aims at enhancing the efficiency and accountability of the security sector of Georgia.
