On June 23-27, 2014 the meeting of the working group of “Central Asia and the Caucasus Regional Biosecurity Workshop” is being held at “Radisson Blu Iveria” hotel with the support of the United States and co-operation with Georgian National Bureau of Interpol.
The mentioned meeting is held by Chemical, Biological, and Radiological, Nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) sub-directorate and Bio terrorism Combat Unit with the support of Georgian National Bureau of Interpol.
The meeting was opened with an introductory speech delivered by Giorgi Mezvrishvili, head of Georgian Bureau of Interpol. The opening ceremony was attended by the head of CBRNE sub-directorate, Nigel Lightfoot, executive director of liaison organizations for disease regional researches- executive director of biosafety federation Paula Austin, experts from Sandia national Laboratory and US Federal Bureau of Investigation and Malcolm Dando-Professor from Bradford University.
Aim of the working group is to assemble representatives of law enforcement, healthcare biosafety agencies as well as MIA Academy.
The mentioned workshop was held in the attendance of representatives from law enforcement agencies of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
