Meeting of the representatives of the Commission for Domestic Violence Prevention and Response and the civil sector was held in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The meeting was led by Mr. Archil Talakvadze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Mr. Stephen Stork, the Deputy Head of Projects Section of the EU Delegation to Georgia.
The representatives of the MIA presented the new project of the MIA and the EU - “Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia – Combat Domestic Violence” to the guests.
The project is aimed at providing full information on domestic violence issues to the society, capacity-building of law enforcement agencies and improving coordination with the non-governmental sector, as well as with various state agencies.
The guests were familiarized with the new program of statistics and the methodology of the Information Analytical Department of the MIA at the meeting. The representatives of the nongovernmental sectors received detailed information on the current challenges as well as the progress achieved as a result of cooperation between the Commission for Domestic Violence Prevention and Response of the MIA and various agencies.
Mr. Archil Talakvadze, the Deputy Minister once again stressed that the fight against domestic violence remains as one of the main priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. With this purpose the MIA shall continue close cooperation with the civil sector.
