With the purpose of elaborating standard operative procedures at Temporary Deletion Centers British Human Rights Expert James Murdoch visited Temporary Detention Center at Tbilisi Police Main Division Within the frames of the official visit to Georgia. Human Rights Expert got familiarized with implemented reforms and the situation in detention centers. Within the frames of implemented reforms new special illuminations system, video surveillance cameras in corridors and cells as well as anti-vandal bathroom inventory were installed that excludes any possibility of causing traumas to cellmates or self-damages. In Tbilisi and Mtskheta-Mtianeti temporary detention centers have undergone renovation and new uniform was designed and were handed over to the personnel. Adaptation process is underway at the detention centers which are aimed for creating relevant environment for handicapped persons. Detainees are provided with medical service and can receive medical consultations and recommendations at any time.
British Human Rights Expert will also visit other detention centers. After getting familiarized with existing environment in the centers British expert will elaborate recommendations and draft standard operative procedures jointly with MIA representatives. MIA Academy will implement new trainings on capacity building for the employees of Human Rights Protection and Monitoring Main Division on the basis of the SOP’s. It is notable that from 2012 no cases of human rights violation have been registered.
