Under the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs changes were made to the government resolution on “Approval of the Statute of Border Regime and Protection” on February 11, 2015 according to which Georgian Bureau of Interpol, with the support of FIND project managed to integrate all border crossing points of the country into database of stolen motor vehicles (SMV) of Interpol General Secretariat. From now on authorized employees of Patrol Police and Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finances, will verify the information on vehicles crossing the state border through the SMV database of Interpol General Secretariat.
Database of stolen motor vehicles (SMV) of Interpol General Secretariat is being updated don the daily basis by Interpol member states. As of today’s situation, SMV database holds 6844230 million records of the reported stolen vehicles.
