Levan Kakhiani Director of Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs met with Latvian delegation within the frames of the three day official visit to Georgia. The delegation is headed by Raivis Kronbergs State Minister of the Ministry of Justice of Latvia, which is comprised of Counsellor of the Minister of Justice Ivo Zutis, Annija Freimane Head of Bureau of the Minister of Justice and Director of Court Administration Edvins Balsevics.
Levan kakhiani hosted the delegation members at Temporary Accommodation Center of Migration Department. Guests viewed infrastructure of the facility, area outside the building for leisure activities. They also got familiarized with work specifics of the Department and met the personnel.
The building was opened on October 8 of the current year and is comprised of two floors and assigned for 80 persons being illegally in Georgia. As per the European standards the building is provided with the latest technic and inventory. The detainees have the access to the medical and psychological aid, also the Center operates the medical aid rooms. Besides the mentioned, there are special rooms adapted for the individuals with limited capabilities as well as for the foreigners with the risk of self-injury.
The reforms implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of migration were positively assessed by the guests and expressed their eagerness to continue cooperation in the future.
