Under the organization of UN Women organization, documentary film “Raise Your Voice” was presented for the academic personnel and students of Magister school of MIA Academy. Film, which is directed by Zura Inashvili is dedicated to the domestic violence against women and depicts real life stories of Georgian women. Presentation was attended by the rector of MIA Academy- Nukri Gelashsvili, head of Patrol Police Faculty of the Academy-Nodar Saakashvili, representative of local office of UN Women organization-Erika Kvapilova, other employees of UN Women organization, representatives of embassies of Sweden and Great Britain. After the presentation meeting in the discussion format was held.
Film presentation was aimed at raising awareness on: domestic and violence against women, formation of the correct attitude regarding the mentioned sensitive issue, importance of community involvement in the fight against violence and contribution to prevention of the domestic violence.
The full-length documentary film- “Raise Your Voice” was filmed in cooperation with Georgian National Film Center, with the support of the UN joint program- “For Supporting Gender Equality in Georgia”. The film was premiered on March 3, 2015 within the frames of gender equality week.
One of the major priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia is to implement preventive activities against domestic violence. Thus, the agency is cooperating with local and international organizations and is permanently involved in activities aimed at prevention of the domestic violence.
