The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department along with Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Division of the Patrol Police Department operational at “Vale” border crossing point, as a result of jointly held operative-investigative activities detained 6 persons for smuggling an illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition with a previous consent. The detainees are as follows: three citizens of Iran- Tohid E. (DoB 1990), Naharin Mohhamad A. (DoB 1971), Seied Razavi Mir K. (DoB 1959) and three Georgian citizens: - Tsotne P. (DoB 1989), Nika B. 9DoB 1990) and Aleksandre A. 9DoB 1957). Law enforcers detained Iranian citizens at “Vale” border crossing point and Georgian citizens in Tbilisi.
Investigation established that Iranian citizens purchased illegal firearms and ammunition from the Georgian citizens for further realization in Iran. It was also ascertained that mentioned persons occasionally sold illegal firearms in Iran.
During the searching activities held in the rented apartment of Tohid E. and his vehicle law enforcers seized 250 bullets, policemen also seized 200 more bullets, CZ-500 rifle in the bus operated by Razavi Mir K. and Naharin Mohhamad A. which was owned by one of the transfer companies. During the searching activities held in Aleksandre A’s apartment and vehicle 51 bullets were seized. According to the results of expertise the seized firearms and ammunition are suitable for shooting.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition with a previous consent by the egroup, article 236, I, II, III and IV of the Criminal Code.
