In connection with incident that took place in Tchobiskhevi forest in the process of dismantling works of special appliances aimed for wood cutting, investigation was launched on the fact of battery and damaging or destruction of object.
In Tchobiskhevi forest employees of Borjom-Bakuriani forestry service of the Ministry of Natural Recourses protection Ministry detected the truck loaded with illegally cut timber and unregistered wood processing plant. Representatives of forestry department and environment protection department started dismantling process of the illegal plant which was protested and opposed from the side of the local population which resulted into physical confrontation. Officers from samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Main Division and Borjomi police division arrived at the place of incident and managed to regulate the situation. Due to the incident vehicles owned by the forestry service was damaged.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of battery and damaging or destruction of object, article 125 and 187 of the Criminal Code.
