As a result of special operative activities jointly held by Special Operations Department of Special and Emergency Measures Center, Special Tasks Department, Central Criminal Police Department, Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Main Division and Tbilisi Police Main Division, the resident of Borjomi, several times convicted in past-Shalva Abuladze was detained. The mentioned person was wanted for murder and attempted murder of police officers and illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearm.
Earlier today, on the basis of the received operative information, special operation was held in Ardagani village, Borjomi for detention of Shalva Abuladze. As a result of operation officers of Special Operations Department of Special and Emergency Measures Center detained Shalva Abuladze. Law enforcers seized 2 pistols and 1 hand grenade from the house, where Abuladze was hiding. Detainee was transported to the capital by the helicopter. Search operation of Shalva Abuladze was held all across the country, involving various MIA units. The operation was conducted with the involvement of the helicopters of the Border Police.
Shalva Abuladze was wanted for murdering police officers: inspector-investigator of Borjomi division of Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Main Division-Giorgi Beruashvili and inspector-investigator of VIII police station of Isani-Samgori Police Division-Beka Margishvili. Shalva Abuladze was also wanted for wounding district inspector-investigator of Borjomi Police Division of Samtckhe-Javakheti Regional Main Division –Giorgi Makharashvili and assistant to the detective from VIII police station of Isani-Samgori Police Division- Valerian Grdzelishvili.
Investigation against Shalva Abuladze was launched by the Prosecutor’s Office under several articles of the Criminal Code, envisaging murder and attempted murder of police officer as well as illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearm. The charges envisage from 16 to 20 years of imprisonment or lifetime custody. Tbilisi Prosecutor’s office pressed charges against Abuladze in absentia under the article 353, III part, article 19,353, III part and article 236, II and I parts, envisaging killing a police officers in connection with their official duties and illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearm.
