Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili has held working meeting in Gudauri within the frames of the project launched for maintaining safety on the ski tracks of the winter resort destinations. The meeting was attended by sport school principals, trainers, rescuers and sportsmen. Minister familiarized guests with the aim of the project and work plan of the ski patrol. Giorgi Mgebrishvili also listened to the assumptions voiced from the side of the attendees regarding the pilot project.
Today Minister also held meeting with the ski patrol and gave out instructions. “I’ve made a decision to launch new project aimed for the winter resorts. Similar projects are successful in the developed countries of the world. From now on, ski patrol will preserve safety at the ski tracks. They will ensure safety of you and your children. I want to point out that success of the project will depend on cooperation from your side,"-stated minister Mgebrishvili.
Patrol Police Department sent 14 patrol police officers for ensuring safety at the ski tracks. Officers are equipped with special technic and appliances to take care of vacationers’ safety and public order. Patrolling will be conducted at the tracks from 10:00 till 17:00 and well as from 20:00 till 22:00. The pilot project was initiated only in Gudauri for this moment.
Under the relevant decree of the Minister of Internal Affairs movement on the ski tracks of the winter resorts will be restricted for the snowmobiles and other similar means of transport, except for the transport aimed for rehabilitation, rescuing and police activities. Security measures will be ensured by the police regional departments and regional police units within the area of their authority.
Similar pattern of the patrolling is operational in a number of the well-known winter resorts of the world. Initiation of the ski patrol project in Georgia is aimed for the prevention of accidents and ensuring vacationer’s safety.
