Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs- Ivane Papiashvili and Vice-Rector- Temur Maghradze met with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia- Giorgi Kalandarishvili, Deputy Chairman - Giorgi Sioridze and the Head of the Electoral Systems Development, Reforms and Training Center - Natia Zaalishvili.
The meeting focused on the conduction of elections in a safe and peaceful environment, the importance of effective communication between law enforcement agencies and the election administration. In this regard, the Rector of MIA Academy, Ivane Papiashvili and the CEC Chairman, Giorgi Kalandarishvili discussed the mechanisms of cooperation within their competence to ensure that police officers and members of election commissions are provided with relevant information on election security issues.
Natia Zaalishvili, Director of the Training Center, presented the information and training program "Elections and Security" planned to be implemented in partnership with the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The mentioned program is focused on discussion of legislative regulations on risk identification, preventive measures and response mechanisms for ensuring the security of the election process during the pre-election period and on Election Day.
The training is aimed for middle-level managers of the various structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Information meetings will be held online on September 17-18.
Similar program was held at the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs last year before the parliamentary elections in order to increase knowledge and raise awareness of the law enforcers to effectively perform their duties during the election process.
