The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 3 people at different times in Tbilisi and Imereti region as a result of operative-search and investigative activities. During the personal search and search activities held in their residential houses, firearms and ammunition were seized.
The officers from the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested previously convicted G.N. (DoB1992) on charges of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. During the personal search of the detainee held in Tbilisi, law enforcement officers seized EKOL hand-made firearms and 6 hand-made magazines as evidence.
The officers of Didube-Chugureti Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department detained previously convicted M.Sh. (DoB 1968). As a result of the search of detainee’s residential house and the storeroom, law enforcers seized Makarov system firearm, a magazine, 2 cartridges and the so-called, double-barreled „cut gun”, hunting rifle cartridges and a pistol as evidence. The mentioned person is accused of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
The officers of Khoni District Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department also arrested Kh.B., (DoB 1968) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During search activities held in detainee’s house in Khoni, law enforcement officers seized Makarov-PM pistol, magazine and 13 ammunition cartridges as evidence.
The mentioned crimes envision from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition are being investigated under Article 236, parts III and IV of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
